Now we have quite a small apartment that is full of interesting details. Most of us are not living very big and spacious and therefor it's always so knowledgeable to get small space ideas. Like in a home visit a few weeks ago, there were these black steel-frame windows to divide the space, and it's also in this one and working as well. This apartments also shows, that using some colours are working for smaller spaces, but far too often you can hear the old fashioned and out of date rule, that dark colours make a space smaller! As a true devotee of mixed style, it must be kind of obvious that I like a lot of various styles. I prefer styles that go all the way and are intriguing, and from there I like to pick something out that I feel that work for me and my style. Bohemian style is one of the style choices I'm always attracted to, specially when it's mastered like in the home in the photo above. Beautifully done, relaxed, mixed style in furniture and objects, a lot of plants and some undiscribable vibe that ties it all together. TRANSFORMATIVE POWER OF LAYERED RUGS

Yes, transformative power of layered rugs. Searching the photos following you can see it so clearly. Imagine the same spaces without rugs, not the same impact at all. With one rug; ok, but still not the same impact as the way it's done with layering. Power of layering and positive sides: it's cheaper to buy smaller than bigger rugs, you can mix colors and patterns, you can align them as you wish, you can always mix up the rugs, it's much easier to clean and dust the rugs etc. But one important thing is, it is a personal style statement and no one else has it the way you do it. How all white home can work out perfectly. Although a solid and forever fan of colours in homes, the question is always; is white a colour? It depends whom you're talking to, but of course white is a colour in the spectrum. Looking at all white homes that really are masterfully done, makes me feel really intriguing. But as with all homes, the style and touch of owners are what matters if everything is going to work together. This home in Milan has it all. The apartment itself is the perfect base, all the shell is white except the kitchen floor so the impact is as much as possible, many of the furniture are white with a touch of natural flair and texture so there aren't deep contrasts in color palette that can be difficult to handle in all white. And what I like a lot is the choice of furniture; sofas with loose covers, mattresses, rattan, metal and natural rugs. TEAK FURNITURE AND DECORATION

Furniture made of teak are something a lot of you have. This sixties style became popular again years ago, after being a certain no no for decades, and teak is here to stay. Old is new as we all know, and in my opinion nothing is in or out, cold or hot. Style is so much more than trends. Teak furniture contemplate a lot of styles and are pieces to use when you like to mix and combine from different directions. Many teak owners ask me though how to use or decorate teak, as it can actually be tricky to use the kind of orangy wood with some other, especially oak. It's easier to go lighter or darker in wood when using teak furniture. But concrete and quite raw materials are probably easiest to match with it, as grey tones are friendly with teak. A HOME WHERE THE BLUES MATTER

This tuesday's home visit is to the English countryside. An old building needed a help according to the owner, to bring it into the modernity, this century. What I particularly like is the use of blue hues in the living area and also the simple and modern version of the panelling, both in the living room and also the bathroom. HOME WITH A KITCHEN TO THINK OF

The home visit this tuesday is elected by me because of the kitchen plan and lay-out regarding it. In otherwise quite an open space, the kitchen is placed in the other end of the space but a steel framed glass wall kind of closes it so perfectly but yet keeps it part of the whole. SEVEN CHAIR SEEN DIFFERENTLY

Scandinavian design and mid century modern things are a classic even not to mention. But maybe we should mention it a bit and think outside the box we see these design pieces in? Lets take the Seven chair and the Ant chair for example, as they've been for so many years and decades, super popular for it's elegant lines. Most people buy these chairs to place around the dining table. The truth is, that these design pieces should also be thought of in different settings. The Danish brand Fritz Hansen, is one of these brands that do all the marketing and styling of their products superbly. Following their Instagram is inspirational everyday. They use their things to show their customers how amazing it would be, and can be, having these pieces in their homes. As a true believer in placing furniture in different way and thinking about them as multifunctional, I'm showing you in this post how your Seven or Ant chair can get a new life in different circumstances! If you have a few, there is no need in using them all together. Rather where they are at their best and in places you had never thought about putting them. CLASSIC YET MODERN HOME WITH RUSTICAL TWIST

Modern building usually means modern interior. Somehow it seems to architects, designers and their clients that modern doesn't fit some mix up in interior style. I think it's not true, although the line is quite thin and maybe a tad difficult to know when enough is enough in other kind of style use. For excample a modern house isn't a match to a very chic and cheek romantic country style. But like the home I'm showing you, it's a great excample of mixing up different kind of styles. The house is an aristocrathic building, the fittings very modern and sleek and the interior decoration more of an rustic though classic simplicity. Moody monday, today. So grey outside, windy and wet. No winter at all and clean, white snow would make a difference in making all our surroundings more beautiful. We haven't almost had none all this winter and it seems it's not going to happen. So, we shall find the eternal beauty somewhere else than looking out of the dreary window today.
